Team Leader - Employee Benefits (SME Focus)

The position combines leadership, business development, and client management responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on driving growth, enhancing client outcomes, and building a scalable, high-quality service platform.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of brokers and account managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and support individual development plans.
  • Drive hiring and retention initiatives to ensure the team has the capabilities required for continued growth.
2. Business Growth & Financial Performance
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve revenue, profitability, and growth targets within the SME segment.
  • Drive new business through both personal production and team-led initiatives, including referrals and targeted outreach.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through cross-selling and upselling strategies.
3. Client Relationship Management
  • Act as a senior point of contact for key SME clients, ensuring high service standards and long-term retention.
  • Support the team in designing and delivering tailored, cost-effective employee benefits solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and external partners to strengthen market positioning.
4. Operational Oversight
  • Oversee the full client lifecycle, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant service delivery.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to drive performance, efficiency, and risk management.
  • Ensure robust processes across contract management, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g. CEBS, ANZIIF) are advantageous.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in employee benefits brokerage, ideally with SME client exposure in Hong Kong.
  • Proven leadership experience (3–5+ years) managing and developing teams.
  • Strong network within the Hong Kong insurance and SME landscape.
  • Solid understanding of employee benefits products, underwriting, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in English and Cantonese (Mandarin a plus).
