Reporting to the regional head of the claims department, you will be defining the SEA regional claims strategy and its execution whilst overseeing end-to-end claims handling for life and health treaties and facultative business.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and deliver a claims strategy aligned with business priorities; ensure consistent claims standards across markets while allowing for appropriate local adaptation; represent the claims function in senior leadership and cross-functional governance forums.
- Oversee end-to-end life and health claims management across multiple products and distribution arrangements; ensure accurate, timely adjudication and settlement, including complex and high-severity cases; implement process improvements, quality controls, and effective fraud risk management practices.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies across multiple jurisdictions; ensure strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness; monitor regulatory developments and update procedures and training as needed.
- Serve as a key claims point of contact for external partners and internal stakeholders; manage sensitive negotiations and escalations; provide technical guidance, clear communication, and issue resolution to support relationship strength and retention.
- Review claims data and experience trends to generate insights for underwriting, pricing, product, and risk stakeholders; recommend actions to improve outcomes, customer experience, and portfolio performance.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing claims team; build a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement through capability building and performance management.
What we are looking for - 10+ years or more in relevant life and health insurance/reinsurance claims, with Asia regional exposure being essential.
- University degree qualification, preference on Life Science, Finance, or equivalent subjects.
- Professional Qualification similar to FLMI, ALHC, CRC, CDMS, CCM are advantageous.
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory frameworks, cross-border operations, regional healthcare systems, and cost drivers across South East Asian markets would be essential.
- Fluent command of English. Mandarin and/or Cantonese proficiency would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively within a high-performance team.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills would be advantageous.
