Associate Director, Claims

Reporting to the director of the claims department, you will be managing the end-to-end claims handling for life and health treaties and facultative business.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and process claims in line with applicable contract terms, internal policies/standards, operational guidelines, and delegated authority limits.
  • Review, validate, and approve periodic claims listings/reporting (e.g., bordereaux) within assigned authority, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate documentation.
  • Deliver responsive, professional service to external partners and internal stakeholders, meeting agreed turnaround times and quality measures.
  • Plan and conduct claims audits and reviews; document findings, root causes, and actionable recommendations in formal reports.
  • Monitor partner adherence to agreed claims handling requirements and reporting standards for ongoing/automatic arrangements, escalating non-compliance where needed.
  • Identify operational risks, control gaps, and service issues in day-to-day claims handling, audit activity, and reporting; escalate and track remediation actions.
  • Coordinate and support partner-facing engagement such as meetings, training sessions, audits, and case discussions to improve consistency and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with partner claims teams and relevant stakeholders to support efficient communication and case resolution.
  • Provide guidance, training, and coaching to junior team members and contribute to process improvement and claims digitalization/automation initiatives.
  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned.
What we are looking for
  • 10+ years or more in relevant life and health insurance/reinsurance claims, with exposure in Hong Kong and Singapore being essential.
  • University degree qualification, preference on Life Science, Finance, or equivalent subjects.
  • Professional Qualification similar to FLMI, ALHC, CRC, CDMS, CCM are advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of claims assessment and management requirements for automatic business would be essential.
  • Fluent command of English. Mandarin and/or Cantonese proficiency would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively within a high-performance team.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills would be advantageous.
