Senior Underwriter, Casualty

About the Role

This role is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of assigned specialty product lines, with a focus on underwriting complex casualty risks, developing broker relationships, and managing portfolio performance. You’ll combine strong technical expertise with a commercial mindset to deliver sustainable results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships to support business growth
  • Underwrite new and renewal business in line with guidelines, ensuring sound risk selection and pricing
  • Execute negotiation strategies to achieve portfolio growth and profitability
  • Deliver a high standard of service to brokers and clients
  • Collaborate across teams to maximise cross-selling opportunities
  • Monitor premium collections and resolve discrepancies with Finance
  • Manage the portfolio to drive retention, growth, and performance
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Contribute to product development, market analysis, and strategic planning
  • Review and negotiate policy terms, conditions, and endorsements
  • Represent the business in marketing initiatives, client meetings, and industry events
  • Work closely with internal teams (Claims, Risk, Operations, Compliance) to ensure seamless delivery
  • Identify process improvements and drive operational efficiency
  • Act as a technical referral point and maintain accurate reporting and compliance

Experience & Qualifications
  • Significant experience in General Insurance (non-life)
  • Background in P&C Underwriting for Complex Risks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant systems
  • Relevant degree preferred
