We are partnering with a leading international insurer on an exciting opportunity within their Marine team in Hong Kong. This is a regional-facing position focused on driving profitable growth across Marine lines, while managing key broker relationships, underwriting performance, and portfolio development across Asia.
The role would suit an experienced Marine insurance professional with strong underwriting capabilities, commercial awareness, and the ability to work closely with both internal stakeholders and external broker partners in a competitive regional market.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the Marine business strategy to achieve growth and profitability objectives
- Manage Marine underwriting activities, portfolio performance, and business development initiatives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders across the market
- Underwrite and monitor Marine risks across the portfolio, ensuring sustainable profitability
- Assist in enhancing underwriting guidelines, governance, systems, and operational processes
- Monitor portfolio performance, pricing adequacy, and risk selection standards
- Ensure compliance with internal underwriting standards, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to maintaining a high-performing and collaborative team environment
Key Requirements
- 10+ years of experience within non-life insurance, with strong exposure to Marine insurance
- Solid technical underwriting background across Marine products
- Experience within Project Cargo and/or Marine Hull would be advantageous
- Strong understanding of portfolio management, pricing, and risk assessment
- Well-connected within the Hong Kong and broader Asian insurance markets
- Strong broker management and relationship-building skills
- Analytical mindset with strong communication and presentation abilities
- Fluent English required; Chinese language skills would be beneficial
