Role purpose
The Senior Digital Business Analyst is accountable for end-to-end business analysis across digital investment initiatives, translating business goals into clear, prioritised and testable requirements that drive digital conversion and sales via banks platforms. This role also leads and coaches junior analysts, ensuring consistent BA standards, high-quality user stories, and effective sprint execution across the squad.

Principal responsibilities
1) Business analysis & requirements ownership
  • Own the preparation of business requirements for digital investment product deliveries, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment to business outcomes (e.g., conversion, sales, customer engagement).
  • Elicit requirements through workshops, stakeholder interviews, journey reviews, and data insights; translate into epics, features, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain strong traceability from business objectives → requirements → delivery scope → test coverage → release outcomes.
2) Backlog management & Agile delivery
  • Partner with the Digital Product Owner to shape and manage the product backlog, including prioritisation support, story grooming, and sprint readiness.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions and ensure stories meet "Definition of Ready" and are sized appropriately for sprint planning.
  • Support sprint execution by clarifying requirements, managing scope questions, and ensuring alignment across delivery disciplines.
3) Quality, UAT & release readiness
  • Ensure digital deliverables meet stakeholder expectations and are fit for customer release by supporting:
    • in-sprint validation and story acceptance,
    • pre-release UAT planning and execution,
    • live testing / post-release verification.
  • Define UAT approach, test scenarios and acceptance criteria; coordinate defect triage and prioritisation with QA and Engineering.
4) Cross-functional collaboration
  • Facilitate collaboration across UI/UX, Engineering, Solution Architecture, QA, Operations, and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes efficiently.
  • Act as a key "translator" between business and technology, ensuring complex investment concepts are understood and implemented correctly.
Key deliverables
  • High-quality epics/features/user stories with clear acceptance criteria and non-functional considerations.
  • Well-maintained backlog in JIRA with prioritisation rationale and dependencies managed.
  • UAT scenarios, test evidence coordination, and release readiness sign-off support.
  • Clear documentation in Confluence (journeys, requirements, decisions, assumptions, risks).
  • Insight-driven recommendations to improve conversion, usability, and customer experience.
Requirements (skills & experience)
Essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail; able to navigate complex business dynamics.
  • University degree; relevant qualifications in Technology, Finance, eCommerce or related disciplines preferred.
  • 2+/4+ years experience in investment product management / project management / digital business analysis, with proven delivery of online sales and/or digital platform initiatives (banking/financial services exposure strongly preferred).
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to explain complex/technical topics to varied audiences.
  • Solid understanding of User-Centred Design and Agile delivery methodologies, frameworks and best practices.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese; Putonghua preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA and Confluence for delivery management and documentation.
Preferred
  • Experience using analytics and design/prototyping tools such as Looker and Figma (or equivalent).
  • Experience working on digital investment journeys
  • Familiarity with experimentation (A/B testing), funnel optimisation, and digital performance metrics.
Competencies / behaviours
  • Open-minded, self-motivated, collaborative, and accountable with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Comfortable working across boundaries and influencing stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Able to lead by example, coach others, and raise the overall quality bar for delivery.
Interview focus areas (suggested)
  • Examples of translating investment/business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Backlog prioritisation approach and handling competing stakeholder demands.
  • UAT leadership and defect triage experience.
  • Data-driven optimisation examples (conversion uplift, drop-off reduction, UX improvements).
  • Coaching/mentoring experience and how they ensure consistent BA standards.
