Claims Specialist

About the Role

A leading global reinsurance organisation is seeking a technically strong Life & Health Claims professional to join its Hong Kong team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality claims services across the Hong Kong & Taiwan portfolio while working alongside underwriting, medical, and regional stakeholders.

Reporting to the Head of L&H Underwriting, Claims & HNW, you will assess complex Life & Health claims, support governance and quality assurance initiatives, and help clients strengthen their claims capabilities through technical guidance, reviews, and training. You'll also contribute to continuous process improvement and collaborate across functions to ensure consistent, commercially sound claims decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage complex Life & Health claims in accordance with policy terms and underwriting principles
  • Support claims governance, quality assurance, and audit activities across the portfolio
  • Conduct claims reviews and provide recommendations to improve claims management standards
  • Deliver technical guidance and training to clients on claims best practices
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational excellence
  • Work closely with underwriting and cross-functional teams on technical claims matters
  • Analyse claims trends and provide technical insights to support business decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Life & Health claims within insurance or reinsurance
  • Experience handling critical illness, disability, death and medical claims
  • University degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external clients
Skills & Expertise
  • Strong technical knowledge of Life & Health insurance and reinsurance claims
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret claims data and trends
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to deliver client training and technical presentations
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented and commercially aware
  • Fluent English and Cantonese required; Mandarin advantageous
