Job Title: AVP Securities Services Business Analyst
Duration: 6 months
Salary: HKD95K per month (depending on experience)
 
Overview
Funds administration service is one of key service in Securities Services. The core responsibility of Funds
administration team is to produce the Net Asset Value of a fund which indicates its own performance and ensure on-going administration of funds adhered to provisions as defined in the funds document and relevant operation procedure.

NAV process starts from obtain confirmation from all upstream teams such as Transfer Agency, corporate action, trades, cash and Reconciliation. Breaks and exception will be cleared and investigated. We will also look at other NAV component like FX,fees, interest, price of the underlying assets to ensure the NAV calculation is accurate and in a timely manner. The Final product - (NAV pack) will then be released to the client for their validation and ultimately published to investor or exchange. Once it has been finalized, NAV price will be sent to Transfer agency team for investor's dealing transaction

During the NAV production process, multiple sub-processes / controls are still manual, which expose operation teams to high risks of NAV error and inefficiency. We need a dedicated SME to conduct the deep dive review of the manual process register for Funds to improve the data quality and consistency, as well as to identify opportunity for processes / controls standardization, optimization and automation.
 
Role Description
The role holder will work closely with the Funds Administrations as well as the Funds Product/Product Delivery Leadership team in the MPR thematic review program to improve the current operating model.  

The role holder will need strong influencing skills to be able to work with multiple stakeholders with different, and sometimes opposing, views and agendas. In addition, they will need to work with a globally dispersed virtual team and interface with all levels of management across different geographies.
 
Activities
  1. Follow the Review Approach order (elimination -> standardization -> optimization -> automation), engage the relevant Ops process owner / team leads to review the selected deep dive areas from the MPR database and document agreed best practices:
    • Elimination:
      • Identify duplicated and mischaracterized manual processes, as well as tasks/activities that we should stop;
      • Review top down to ensure all countries are consistent and there are no outliers;
    • Standardization:
      • Identify activities that have multiple interpretations and determine how we collapse to one standard process;
      • Where possible, limit variations only to accounting platform, each accounting platform to have one standard process only;
    • Optimization:
      • Review to determine most efficient and scalable process;
      • Optimized process review should be followed on from identifying multiple standard processes to collapsing. For example, if we are collapsing 3 (or more) variations of the same process, review all 3 to determine most optimal approach;
    • Automation:
      • Identify manual processes that can be automated through strategic product rollouts, tactical solutioning (either through Rubix or CTB funded projects) or as part of long-term product roadmap;
      • Engage with relevant project leads to ensure tracking against demise of tagged manual processes on a timely
        manner.
  2. Present the review findings and best practices proposal to the MPR review committee (with stakeholders from Ops,
    Product / Product Delivery) in a structured way
  3. Prepare regular update to the central MPR remediation program
Requirements
  • University graduate with a degree in accounting or related discipline;
  • A minimum 8 -10 years of relevant experience in in fund services or financial industry;
  • Good understanding of fiduciary duties and administration of unit trust, mutual fund, accounting, valuation, custody and banking services;
  • Knowledge of security services platforms, functions and products is necessary;
  • Ability to build relationships with Senior stakeholders and networks across the business.
  • Strong communicator both verbally and written with a comprehensive understanding of content and context;
  • Excellent presentation skills and can tailor communication methods for the audience and environment;
  • Strong analytic, problem solving and decision making abilities.
